BANKING RETURNS.
MARCH QUARTER RETURNS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The bansing returns for the March quarter show the following comparisons With the corresponding quarter ot 1925: Government deposits, £4,012,194, an increase of £818,580. Free deposits, £26.805.849. a decrease Of £2,899,668. (Fixed deposits, £20,436,628, an increase of £304,917. Advances, £46,372,301. an increase of *4,346,361. Discounts, £1,914,837, an increase ot 210,625, Note circulation, £6,794,981, an increase of £100,935. Coin and bullion, £7,791,454, an increase of £63,550. In the quarter just ended, advances hnd discounts exceeded deposits by £984,661, while a year ago the deposits showed an excess of £6,166,966. In '924 the deposits were £2,629,769 ahead.
