Adviee from Russell states that or Saturday Colonel and Mrs. Sparrow visitors from England, had a narrow escape in the launch Phyllis. They had a swordfish hooked, and after playing it for some time he made straight for th. launch. Colonel and Mrs. Sparrow go but of the road. The boatman eaw what was coming «o he gave the engine a little throttle and the ewordfish leaped right across the launch, broke the line and got away. Nine big game fish were caught last Friday, Mr. Zane Grey getting three swordfish turning the scales at 2WN>s, 2241bs and 2341 b». Mr. Grey also eaught a large brown shark weighing 70<>Hm. Nine big game fish were also caught on Saturday. Mr. Sam Ludbrook, of Gisborne, caught two swordfish, weigh ing 21 libs and 2661b5. Mr. Mason Bay ly, of Orakawa, caught two swordfish weighing 2321bs and 2601b5.
