CANTERBURY MARKETS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The potato market has taken a further jump, values appreciating over the week-end by 1:1 per ton. Farmers who are prepared to accept this price have been receiving £6 per ton on trucks, but a big proportion of growers hold to the idea that values have not yet reached their peak. The Sydney market is having a rather unsettling effect on their ideas. The scarcity In Auckland has been th-? main factor in sending the market up. Some consignments on the Katoa, which left yesterday, were sold at £'B a ton f.0.t0. s.l. This vessel took only 2500 sacks from Lyttelton, but, including the Timaru and Oamaru shipment, a total of about 11,000. iShe is understood to be calling at a wayside port, and will probably reach Auckland in about a week. The Walhora sails from Lyttelton on Thursday . and the Wingatui about the week-end. To-day’s f.o.b. si. price is £7 10s to £7 12s 6d, with an easing tendency. Oats are weak and buyers are difficult to find at 4s f.0.t0. s.l. for B’s and '4s 4d for A’s. JPrices to farmers are 3s 3d and 3s 6d respectively. Shipment of Algerians are still going steadily north, values to farmers being 2s 6d to 2s 9d.

Perennial ryegrass has been sold at 6s fo.b. s.l. Bluff for 27-281 b seed. There is not the the usual demand for Canterbury. Light perennial cowgrass is selling at 120 s per cwt. for machine dressed. Values to farmers are 8d to TOd with not much offering. Cocksfoot is worth lid for machine dressed.
