SOUTH TARANAKI PLAY. HAWERA TEAMS TRAVEL. Matches were played at the week-end by team® frorfi the Hawera Men’s Club. That against Waverley was lost, while a win was scored against Manaia. The team that played Waverley consisted of thirteen men, Waverley winning nine matches and Hawera four. The Hawera team which went to Waverley had a thoroughly enjoyable trip, and were very hospitably entertained by their hosts. In most of the matches play was very closely contested. Results were as follows, Waverley being mentioned first in each case:— Muir V. O’Callaghan 1; Wybounie 1 v. Beechey; Aiken 1 v. Elliott; Parsons 1 v. Ryan; Bradniore 1 v. Cox; Johnston v. Glasson 1; Hughe® v. Little 1; Palmer v. Fletcher 1; Wills 1 v. Hay-Macken-zie; Pepper 1 v. Moss; Wicks 1 v. Hart; Cathie 1 v. Douglas; Kerr 1 v. Gibson.
Totals —Waverley 9 matches, Hawera 4 matches.
The team against Manaia played four ball matches only. They thoroughly enjoyed golf under ideal conditions as regards weather. The Manaia players gave them a most cordial welcome.
Results were as below, Manaia being mentioned first in each case; —Wright and Young 1 v. Beechey and Salmon; Ryan and Poynter v. Fletcher and Lano 1; Christie and Watts v. Hay-Macken-zie and Gibson, all square; Watson and A. C. Smith v. Duffill and Kururangi 1; 11. P. Smith and MaeLeod v. Vinnicombe and Hart 1; Rampton and Blair v. Ritchie and Henwood 1; Mitchell and Burke v. Dickie and Mcyrick 1; Allen and Anor v- Dalgety and Winlfield 1. Totals —Manaia, one match; Hawera, six matches; one all square. LADIES’ BOGIE MATCH. The ladies’ bogie match, which was to have been played at the Waiwakaiho links yesterday, was abandoned on account of the wet weather, and will be played to-morrow.
