NEW PLYMOUTH'S REFUSAL. HAWERA EXPRESSES REGRET. (From Our Own Reporter.) Hawera, July 3. Regret that the New Plymouth Borough Council had refused to contribute its allotted quota to- the funds of the Mount, ligmqnt National Park Board under the scheme submitted to the Taranaki Local Bodies’ Association by the board, was expressed by the Hawera Chamber of Commerce to-night. It was pointed out that many Taranaki local bodies had agreed to contribute. conditionally upon all other local bodies doing so, and it was thought that New Plymouth, as the largest borough, should have given a lead. The president (Mr. E. Dixon) thought that New Plymouth might be asked to reconsider their decision, but it was decided to await the decision of all the Taranaki bodies. The chamber passed a resolution expressing its desire to assist the Park Board in every possible way in its endeavour to provide a new hostel at Dawson Falls. Mr. J. B. Murdoch pointed out. that the visit of the National Dairy Association delegates to Dawson Falls yesterday had emphasised the need for more accommodation. >
