PROMOTING TRADE.
CANADA AND THE WEST INDIES. •I ‘ ■ By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received June 21, 5.5 p.ifl. Ottawa, June 19. A conference between Canada and the West Indies for the purpose ot promoting a new trade agreement between the two countries has opened here. The Premier (Mr. W. L. MacKenzie King) welcomed the delegates from British Guiana, the. Barbadoes, Trinidad, W.inwapo Island, the Bahamas, British Honduras, Jamaica and the Bermuda and Leeward Islands. The Hon. J. A. Robb (Minister for Finance) is chairman. The Hon. W- M. Morrison, of Jamaica, isaid he felt that a vast increase in the volume of trade would be brought about by approaching the subject, as was intended, from the broad Imperial viewpoint and in the interests of the British Empire.
