POLITICS IN BRITAIN.
AUTUMN ELECTION PREDICTED. QUESTION OIF PROTECTION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received June 21, 11.5 p.in. London, June 21. Reynold’s Newspaper . makes ,a new suggestion that a general election is probable in the autumn. It argued that the forces dominating Cabinet made representations to the Premier (Mr. Stanley Baldwin) that half-hearted . prqtection would .be of no avail in dealing with unemployment and it is essentia) that the Government should be released from the pledges against a general tariff.
The journal adds that it is believed the protectionists are now in the majority in tiie Cabinet, and an appeal to the country for a free hand is only a matter of time.
