LIGHT FOR WOODVILLE.

POWER FROM MANGAHAO SCHEME. By Telegraph —Press Association. Woodville, ’ Last Night. The official switching on ceremony in connection with power from the Mangahao scheme was carried out to-day amid tremendous enthusiasm. Theis was a large attendance at a pixbliq meeting, at which interesting speeches were made by Messrs. E. A. Ransom, M.P. (chairman of the board), H. P» Horne (Mayor of Woodville), M. O*. Grainger (chairman of the Woodvilla County Council) and others. An official afternoon tea followed.

A new’ era in the history of the district was ushered in at 0 o’clock, when the Mayor switched on the lights, flooding the town with brilliant coloured lights. The illumination scheme was splendid. The Mayor was presented with an inscribed switch as a mementa The band played in the evening agd the town was illuminated.
