PORT OF NEW PLYMOUTH.
CONSULTING ENGINEER. APPOINTMENT TO BE MADE. A decision was made by the New mouth Harbour Board yesterday to aj>. point a consulting engineer, and a special meeting of the board will be held on July 2 to make an appointment. In arriving at this decision the mem* bers of the board were unanimous in expressing their entire confidence in the present resident engineer (Mr. G. W. B. Lowson), but they all felt that the proposed works of extending the port facilities had now assumed such proportion® that Mr. Lowson himself felt at times the need of someone whose advice he could, seek on various matters of importance.
