CHARGE OF MURDER.
BANK CASHIER’S DEATH. FRENCH DOCTOR ARRESTED. CROWD TRY TO LYNCH HIM. By Telegraph-—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received June 15, 8.45 p.m. Paris, June 15. Detectives at Marseilles discovered the body of Jacques Rumebe, bank cashier, who disappeared in March, bricked up in the wall of the consulting room ol Bougrat, a well-known Marseilles doctor, who was a close friend of Rumebe. The doctor was present and was handcuffed when the workmen broke down the wall and found the., body. The crowd outside attempted to lynch the doctor, who was severely handled before the . police rescued him. .
Bougrat is 32 years of age and married, but he deserted his wife and has been living beyond his means. This was the first cause of suspicion. The police then noticed that one side of the wall of the consulting room had been repapered, and when a search was made the body was revealed. Bougrat now says that Rumebe committed suicide by taking poison, and he (Bougrat) hid his body, fearing that he would be accused of murder, but the police believe that Bougrat is likely to be connected with other crimes. Bougrat was wounded seven times m the war and was twice decorated.
