BOY’S MAD WEEK.
LOOSE AMONG GOOD THINGS. ENDING IN POLICE COURT. Sydney, Nov. 13. The allurements of all the good things displayed in the various kiosks at the Claremount Show Ground, Perth, during the recent shows proved to be the undoing of a precocious • youngster of 11 years. No ''.ooner was the show over and the kiosks shut up awaiting the leisure of the tenants for the removal of their exhibits, than the boy took up his abode in them, and stayed for about a Week regaling himself upon sweet.®, honey,’ cordials, and other delicacies. He ui.ed to beg rides to Perth on motor lorries almost every day, and when in Perth he stole a bicycle from outside a shop. He kept, this at the show grounds and rode out daily on it. A message from a storekeeper nearby brought th e police on to the boy’s trail. \ constable saw the boy out riding and gave chase, but the youngster left the bicycle on the road and escaped through the bush. Toward the end of his stay at lhe show grounds he induced another boy, aged 13 years, to join him, and together they broke into Ne.:tle’s kiosk, but found I that what they had thought were chocolates were only dummy cases. Then they broke into the casualty ward. They pulled all the blankets and towels out of the store-room and poured some of the contents of the medicine-chest over them. They unrolled all the bandagase and strewed them about the room. Then they went to the engine-room and after starting the engine knocked ,t|ie belt off it by throwing wooden trestles at it. The adventures terminated at th e Police Court, when the younger boy was committed to an institution until 18 years ofage. The elder wag released on probation for 12 months.
