There was a large and enthutdasVio gathering this evening at the Wellington Commercial Travellers’ Club to farewell the Governor-General, patron of ' the United Association of New Zealand. Mr. Hugh Wright, acting-president, in an eulogistic speech, described His Excellency as “the best representative of the biggest firm in the world—Great Britain.” Hie Excellency’s health was drunk amid great enthusiasm. Lord Jellicoe briefly, suitably and humorously responded. He was, he said, exceedingly sorry to neave New ZeaZaad and he should be very proud to act as a commercial traveller for Dominion advertising, though New Zealand needed no advertisement for the country,- ita people and its children. Great and good work had been done by its coinmercial travellers for all patriotic and charitable causes. His Excellency was' presented with a gold badge of the association surmounted by a scroll bearing the word: “Patron.” The National Anthem, an enthusiastic resinging of ‘■'For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” and hearty cheers for Their Excellences and family closed the proceedings.
