Amid the welter of meat prices contrei versy, the fact is generally emerging that i the present enhancement of values is largely seasonal, arising out of the law of supply and demand. Some retailers give detailed figures, showing that their profit yesterday was 124 per cent., whereas 16 per cent, is needed to show a margin over the handling charges, but in numerous cases th© profit' are much higher.
