THE TARANAKI DISTRICT. BIG SPIRITUAL ADVANCE PLANNED. (From Our Own Reporter.) Stratford, Nov. 19. The Taranaki-Wanganui District Methodist Synod met in full session this morning in the Stratford Methodist Church. Delegates were prc'ent from New Plymouth, Waitara, Inglewood, Stratford, Eltham,' Hawera, Kaponga, Manaia, Opunake. Wanganui, Marton, Taihape, Raetahi and Patea. The chairman of the district (the Rev. T. P. Richards) welcomed the members to the Synod, expressing pleasure at seeing •o representative a gathering. In presenting the statistical report, the Rev. W. J. Oxbrow pointed out that the r church was making steady progress, there being an increase in membership of 78, and 64 junior members. Attendance to public worship in the Methodist churches was now over 7000. The work among young people had progressed in the district throughout the year, an increase of "705 Sunday school scholars being reported. The Synod recommended that the president of the conference next year be granted a supply. Considerable discuseion took place on the report of the Home Mission Committee, and plans wer e adopted for a great spiritual advance campaign in 1925. The Rev. W. W. Avery was elected as district representative to th e conference. The report of the foreign mission committee indicated keen interest in foreign missionary enterprise, the income for the year being an advance on that of last year.
