EGMONT A. AND P. SHOW.

OPENING TO DAY. A RECORD EXPECTED. (From Our Own Reporter.) Hawera, Nov. 18. The great centre of attraction in Taranaki this week will be the Egmont A. and I’, showgrounds at Hawera, where the big spring show opens to-morrow (Wednesday) and continues on Thursday (people’s day). Never before in the history of the association have there been so many entries nor such quality in livestock, produce and a hundred things t 0 be displayed to the public, and the association is justified in th c confidence with which they invite the general public of Taranaki to join the trek to Hawera to-morrow. Particular interest will attach to the horse and cattle sections, light horses being a special feature. The horse competitions alone should b e worth the journey, some of the best horses in the country being entered for competition. Tl*>r e will be side-shows innumerable and something to interest everyone. The association has aimed to make this show the biggest event in their history and the public can rest assured that they will not allow a dull moment. On the first- night of the show the Amateur Athletic Club, in conjunction with the A. and P. Association, will hold an electric light carnival on the .brilliantly lighted show-ring. A very fine programme of athletic events has been arranged, and star Items will be the horse leaping competitions. Mooseinan’s orchestra will give a programme of music and excellent talent has been engaged for the vocal items.
