FARMER KICKED BY HORS*. By Telegraph—Pre** Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. Charles Hopkins, a farm hand, empteyed at Awapuni, was admitted to hospital thte evening with a fractured skull, which was caused by a kick from a hone. Bit condition te serious. WEIGHT-PUTTING ACCIDENT. Gisborne. Sept. 25. James Martin, aged 14, a high school pupil, sustained concussion by being accidentally struck on th© 'head by a 16lb shot with which the boys ware practising for the annual sports. KILLED BY MOTOR LORRY. Taihape, Sept. 25. Frank Iskerka, a single man, aged 36 years, whose mother is believed to reside in Palmerston North, was kilted last night at Tiriraukawa, 13 mflas from Taihape, by a motor lorry driven by a man named Hughes going over t bank and capsizing, pinning the occupants of the lorry underneath. Tilt others suffered shock only. The inquest was opened to-day and adjourned. The accident is believed tp have been due to the dimming of the lights when the lorry was around a shorn bend, causing the driver to go over the bank instead of taking the corner. STOCKMAN DROWNED. Hokitika, Sept. 25. Rudolph Louisieh, who lived near ths Maori pa at Arahura, yesterday morning went on horsebaek to bring in cattle. He had to cross a flooded branet of the Arahura River. The riderieas horse and the cattle reached the farm at noon. A search resulted in the finding of the body on the eta beach thte morning. Louisich wu’s about 40 years old.
