“BOOKIES” AND THE TURF.
PUBLIC OPINION DIVIDED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Laat Night. In the House thia afternoon the A. to L. Committee reported that it had no recommendation to make on two petitions, one from Ha were residents that bookmakers be licensed, and another from Wanganui praying that there should be no extension of the facilities for gambling. Both were tabled amidst laughter and without discussion.
