MOASCAR CUP. NEXT SATURDAY’S MATCH. MT. ALBERT GRAMMAR v. N.P. HIGH. The filial match of the season will he played next. Saturday, when New Plymouth High School will he called upon to withstand a challenge from Mt. Albert Grammar School (Auckland) for the Moascar Cup. Though a comparatively young school, Mt. Albert has a strong football team, having defeated Auckland Grammar School on the two occasions they have met. Though defeated by Auckland Grammar, the local boys can be depended upon to put up a good fight, and as they will he fresh and will have the assistance of Alexander, whose shoulder has made a good recovery, the match should prove a fitting final to the series of brilliant school matches. THE ALL BLACK TOUR. IMPROVEMENT IN PLAY. The second All Black tour has now been well launched. Enthusiasts were disappointed ar. tlie small margin shown in 'the opening match, which seemed to bear out the opinion held in some quarters that the team was not nearly up to the standard of the original All Blacks, and would lose quite a few of its matches. Too much notice, however, need not be taken of that match, as the team had not long landed, and probably, in view of the ease with which the 1905 team defeated Devon, the present All Blacks may have held their opponents too cheaply. No doubt the lesson has been taken seriously to heart, judging by the result of the second match. The comment of the critics on the opening match was none too hopeful, but that on this match is much more reassuring, showing that the serious training indulged In during the past few days has had its effect. The majority of the team are young players, who should improve as the season advances, so that while not expecting that they will come back with anything like the record that the original All Blacks put up, one can confidently look forward to the record being a highly creditable one. It is gratifying, also, to note that the defence of the team appears sound, as so far there have been no tries scored against them f ! whilst, the number of penalties given against | the' team in the match shows that Parker, the rover, has not drawn upon himself the eye of the referee. So far Hart anti West have not played, whilst H. W. Brown has played in both matches. It is probable that Hart and West will be included in to-day’s match. RESULTS TO DATE. Versus Devon, won 11 to 0. FOURTH GRADE FINAL The fourth grade final between Hawera Technical School and New Plymouth High School will be played next Saturday. Hawera Technical play fine football, and as they are much heavier than the local boys, they should have a good prospect of winning, but High School, who possess some speedy players, can be depended upon to keep Hawera busy. There will be a Rugby tournament to-day between the Bible Classes of New Plymouth, commencing at 1.45 p.m., on the Racecourse. The following are the teams: St. Andrew's v. Fltzroy and St. Aubyn; Whiteley v. Baptist. The winners of the first match play the winners of the second.
