REVENUE FROM RACES.

QUESTION 'IN PARLIAMENT. DONATIONS AND TAXATION. (By Wire—'Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. Two questions bearing on racing asked in the House recently iby Mr. F. Langstone (Waimarino) were answered today. Mr. Langstone asked whether, in view of the fact that the Racing Conference can afford to donate £BOO to the Sports' Protection League and the Wellington Racing Club can donate £25 to the Welfare Leagne, the Minister will be in favour of granting those metropolitan t racing bodies the reduction in taxation they are asking for? Mr. Massey [replied: “The subject of the revenue derived from racing clubs is still under consideration.”

Mr. Langstone’s other question was to the Hon. R. F. Bollard, asking whether he is aware that the Racing Conference is prohibiting forty youths from obtaining employment in any racing stable in the Doimnion, and whether he will see that the powers of the conference are curtailed in this direction? Mr. Bollard replied: “The list referred to by the hon. member has been perused. No complaint of any description has reached the department from any of the ycuths named. The Government does not interfere with the internal management of racing unless good grounds are advanced for such action.”
