DANNEVIRKE MEETING. . 1 KILFAIRE WINS BIG RACE. PRESIDENT’S TO TUSSORE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dannevirke, Last Night. The Dannevirke spring meeting was held today. Half-way through rain set fn, making the track heavy. The attendance was only moderate. The totallsator handled £ 10,846. No corresponding meeting was held last year. Results GLENGARRY HACK HURDLES. One mile and a half.—Toa Taua (A. Tricklebank) 1, Atapo 2, Diamond Nap 3. Also started: Merry Bells, Crowhurst, Suspicion, Maidos. Won easily by six lengths, four lengths between second and third. If appears that there is little chance of the horse again racing during its nresent visit to Sydney. On the advice of n veterinary surgeon Price has scratched the marc for the Hill Stakes and the Epsom. Father’s Voice, Bosh and Bonaparte have been scratched for the Hill Stakes, making seven acceptors.

Sydney, Sept. 18. Ballymena has been scratched for the Rosehill Cun and G’entru'in for the Camelia Stakes. Splendid acceptances are carded, and. providing the course is In passable order, good raring should be witnessed. Yesterday’s racina should throw some light on to day’s open arid hack events, and lhe hunters’ races (which have all filled well) will offer fresh food for speculation. Blue Hall beat a good one In Bonibrool; at Marton, and the Hallowmas gelding is possessed of such pace that In spite of list. 41b. he may give the ordinary run of hunters opposed tn him something to catch. Good Mark and Diamond Nan are useful ones engaged in the Ashcott Hunters’ Hurdles, and Good Mark and Gaze appear to be nicely placed in the Ladies’ Bracelet. Other fair performers engaged at the gathering are Atapo, Coot, Papaponga and Panim. The most promising two-year-old figuring amongst the crowd slipped In the two-year-old parade at Ellerslie the other day was Master Mind, a fine, upstanding colt by Luru'lus from our old friend Avon Park (Sylvia Park Tottle). Avon Park was a successful mare in her day, and It would occasion little surprise if her progeny were endowed with the same speed. Duo struck himself whilst galloping recently, and In consequence was struck out of Avondale engagements. The mishap cannot be of a serious nature, seeing that he has been nominated in several events at the Napier Park meeting. After payment of forfeits the following horses remain in the Hawke’s Bay Guineas: Coot, Subjection, Termination, Lady Joyce, J*hoenix Park, King’s Folly. He is said to be in very forward condition for the time of. the year. Moorlandiuils breaking watches at Riccarton, and his next, outing will be at Ashburton on Friday. The disappointing Cnpidon has been sold to an Invercargill sportsman, and is now located In the’dry city.
