The number of insolvencies recorded | in the month of throughout the Dominion was 64, as compared with , 83 in July, and the grand total for the i eight months is 454. which ,is singularly I enough, exactly the same as was regisj tered in the same term last year, and | ]0 more than was registered in the | eight months of 1922. The principal I contributors to the bankruptcies of the i past eight months were: Farmers. 101; i labourers, 42; motor trade, 25; builders, I 23; agents, 1-5; contractors, 13; and | carriers, 12. Among the bankrupts last ■ month were a hairdresser, a® iron- ' monger, a butcher, two bakers, two car- ■ penters. two bootmakers, a solicit o ” a stock dealer, a mercer and a draper.
