WOMEN DETECTIVES.
SCOTLAND YARD’S LATEST London, Aug. IS. Thp prettiest and daintiest police force in the world is Scotland Yard’s ideal for the purpose of carrying out the Home Office’s plan th employ women of smart address and superior education in many phases of police work. These women would be used, especially in the detection of gangs of highly intelligent, resourceful male and female criminals, now perpetrating a series of gem robberies and other crimes which have continuously baffled the police. Experience already has proved the value of prettily-gowned women detectives, moving leisurely about fashionable West End hotels and restaurants. It is pointed out that plain-clothes detectives are discoverable at sight to criminals. On the contrary, women with charm and good manners are unlikely to excite the suspicion of the thieves. It is also expected that women’s quick intuition will be the greatest asset in the supervision of undesirable night haunts, and in tracking drug traffickers. A urefit push of bobbed ana shingled aspirants is anticipated when recruiting starts.
