ARBITRATION COURT.
PAINTERS’ AWARD. INCLUSION OF LEAbLIGHTS By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Sept. I'6. In the Arbitration Court an applieai tion for an interpretation of the nainters’ award was made on behalf of the Labour Department. The question was that of the inclusion of leadlight workers in the award. His Honour said the court had deliberately struck out the reference to leadlight workers becaus" they did not have any connection with the rest of the trade. The position was that in Auckland the magistrate had decided that the words “all other workers” included leadlight workers. Those words, however, had been deleted in the new award. The court recognised that they were skilled journeymen. hut the painters’ award was not the proper place for them. There were two ways out of the difficulty. One was to apply for a supplementary award, and the other was for a separate award for leadlight workers.
