A Sydney message says that th e death is reported from Townsville of Mr. Hugh Mac Niel, formerly governing director of Briscoe and Co. He was a prominent business man in Sydney and New Zealand. The Taranaki Hospital Board, at its meeting yesterday, passed a vote of sympathy with Mr. Geo. Young, a member of the board, in his recent bereavement.

Colonel A. R. Young, director of the Live Stock Division of the Agricultural Department, retires at the end of this month and intends taking up his residence at Bell Block, where he has had property for some years. Colonel Young is now visiting New Plymouth.
