TROUT FOR STREAMS
LIBERATION OF FRY The following allocation® of Brown trout have been made and will be liberated when ready, probably in two or three weeks* time: Coa«t rivers.—Opunake. Waiaiia. Maungahnme and Taungatara, 30.000; Warea. 10.000; Waiweranui, 10,000; Kaihihi. 10.000; Tapuae. 5000. Waitara and Inglewood.—Ngatara and Piakau. tributaries of the M aitara River, which owing to its size and volume is in itself unsuitable for the liberation of fry. 30.000; Waiongona. 10,000; Maungaraka. 5000: 10,000 for distribution in streams north of 55 aitara. The following liberations have already been made: 55 aiwakaiho and tributaries. 65.000 Browns; Opunake lake. 40.000 Rainbows; Okahu (Rahotu) 10,000 Rainbows: Stony River, 40.000 Rainbows; Putt’s lake. Okato, 5000 Rainbows. There are in the hatcheries some 80.000 Rainbows still for liberation, besides the 120,000 Browns referred to above. Thirtv thousand Rainbow fry ha'o been allocated to the streams in the Inglewood district. The Maketawa will receive the bulk of these.
