PEDESTRIANS’ NARROW ESCAPE. By Telegraph—Preee Association. Auckland, Last Night. Several pedestrians in Karangahapd Road bad a narrow escape this morning when old brickwork, weighing several hundredweight, from the wall of premjeeai in which alterations are being mad®, collapsed, crashing on the scaffolding erected over the street. Four workmen on th® scaffolding were carried on it .to th® ground, a distance nf eight feet. One woman who was underneath wa4 struck by the timber but not aeriotisly injured. Two children had narrow escapes, receiving minbr cuts and bruises. Th® workmen were not injured.
