DUPLICATION OF THE LINES. PROVISION ON MAIN ROUTE. The first practical step towards ths .further duplication of part of the tramway flnea in the borough of New Plymouth was taken at the council meeting last night, when it was decided to apply to the Public Works Department for permission to duplicate certain definite tions of the main line. The portions to be duplicated are:—(ajl 15 chains from the Hobson street loop td Scrivener’s store; (b) 10 chains from thd Hobson Street loop to Eliot Street; (c) 20 chains from Carter’s store (South Road), to Mission House. After permission has been granted th* work will be started as soon as possible between Hobson Street and Scrivener’* store, a certain amount of material fog this work being already in hand.
