SAFETY OF WORKERS.

THE SCAFFOLDING LAW. (By Wire—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. The question whether a workman can claim compensation for an accident after a scaffold on which he has been working has been passed as safe by an inspector of scaffolding has been raised by certain unions in Auckland, and the subject was referred to in th® House to-day by Mr. M. J. Savage (Auckland West). He urged that the law on the matter should be made dear. The Minister for Labour (Hon. G. J. Anderson) said he hoped that a Bill making the position clear would be inti oduced in the course of the next few days. The provisions of the Scaffolding Act were agreed to at a conference between representatives of the employers and the workers, and the department had no doubts on the question. The Bill, however, would put the matter beyond doubt.
