ENTERTAINMENTS.

EVERYBODY’S. MATINEE AT 2 P.M. TO-DAY. The matinee programme at Everybody’s ihis afternoon will include ‘The Exciters,” Chas. Chaplin in “Who Got Stung?” Chas. Murray comedy, “Pat’s Patent,’’ and Gaziettes. Admission prices are: Adults 1/and 1/6, children 6d. “The Exciters,” Paramount’s atest production, co-starring Bebe Daniels and Antonio Moreno, will be screened for the last time to-night at Everybody’s. In addition to this production, “Pat’s Patent,” a very laughable Paramount comedy, starring Chas. Murray, will be screened, supported by an interesting Burton Holmes Travelogue and Gaiette. Everybody’s Symphony Orchestra, under the conductorship of Mr. Chas. H. Fox, will play a special musical programme at the evening session. The box plans for to-night’s performance are at Collier’s until noon. Setas may be reserved at the theatre from that hour. A special double feature programme has been arranged for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next, at Everybody’s. Mae Murray will appear in 3 Metro super-production, “The French Doll,” and a First National feature, “Slippy McGee,’’ will also be shown. Plans for the season are now open st Collier’s.

EMPIRE THEATRE. “A CHAPTER IN HER LIFE.” “A Chapter in Her Life,” a screen version of Clara Louise Burnham’s novel, “Jewel,’’ featuring Claude Gillingwater, •Jane Mercer, Jacqualine Gadsdon and feobert Frayier, was screened again last night at The Empire. The story tells how £ very rich family, with a very unhappy on an at its head, suddenly have a beautiful child. Jewel, come into their midst. They resent the intrusion, but the happy child is not perturbed and she just goes on loving everyone and being pleasant. The ray of sunshine gradually dispels the gloom of the household and turns the millionaire into an adoring grandfather, brings bis other grand-daughter happiness and love and reunites father and son. It is a story that appeals to all because of its naturalness and true-to-life interpretation. A comedy and the usual gazette are also ■ shown. The programme screens finally tonight. Admission prices are: Adults 1/•nd 1/6, children 6d and 9d. THE PEOPLE S. MATINEE TO-DAY AT 2 P.M. “Man and Wife,” the new Arran film reduction, screening at both sessions toay at The People’s, stars Maurice Cosello, Robert Elliott, Gladys Leslie and •forma Shearer. It is a domestic drama »hat deals with the adventures of two country girls, both sisters, who both marry the same man, a noted physician. Unknown to him, when he married the second sister, his first wife was still alive, although insane. The story is packed wjth tense dramatic situations, which lead up to a stirring climax. The picture is full of human interest, and is thrillingly dramatic without being overdone. The supporting films will include Chatper 4 of "William Desmond’s new serial, ‘The Phantom Fortune,” a two-reel comedy, .entitled, “Stick Around,’’ Cartoons and Pathe Gazettes. Admission prices are as usual, viz., children 6d to matinee, adults both sessions 9d and 1/3. Intending patrons are advised to secure early admission. MUSICAL INNOVATION. The Choral Society is making an innovation at its concert to be given at the Empire Theatre on Wednesday next by the introduction to New Plymouth of some chamber music which will be played by the Wanganui Orchestral Society String Quartette, under the direction of Mr. W. Hutchens. The selections of the quartette party are popular, and helpful explanations of the compositions will be made to patrons by Mr Hutchens. Mise Ruth Rowe, a very promising young singer, will also make her debut at the concert, in songs from Mozart and Massenet. The choir of the society will sing a number of well-selected glees, part-songs, etc. The plan is at Collier’s, where seats should b* reserved without delay.
