New Zealand to 168 s; Australian 156 s to 158 s. .Unsalted is very scarce; New Zealand 180 s, Australian about 1645. Danish is hardening slightly. Prices are 170 s to 175 s f.o.b Germany is again buying small quantities. There is fair demand for cheese; ftew Zealand 82s to 84s. A FLUCTUATING MARKET. HOME MAKE THE FACTOR. GENERAL DOWNWARD TENDENCY. The quotations which have been cabled from London reveal a slight increase in the price of New Zealand butter, but the whole position, nevertheless, is not regarded very optimistically by those in a position to judge. Last week New Zealand choicest was iquoted at 164 s to 1665,* and Australian at 152te to 1565. Unsalted butter from |joth countries was at about 6s to 8s premium. The Danes had reduced their prices to 170 s f.o.b. consequent on the cessation of the German demand. The cheese market has not changed this hveek as far as prices are concerned. “The market has been fluctuating all the week,” said an expert to whom yesterday’s cablegram was referred by a Daily News reporter. “The whole nosilion is dominated by the inake of the Northern Hemisphere,” he added, “and just what that make will be is a weather problem.” To a lesser extent the spasmodic buying of Danish butter was affecting the position, particularly of course, as far as Danish butter was concerned.
