INDIAN MOSLEMS.

DISCLAIM DESIRE TO RULE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Delhi, Jan. 3. Before the All India Congress Committee Shaukat Ali made a statement on behalf of himself and Mohammed Ali in which he denied the charge that they had acted as agents for those whose aims and purpose were the founding of a Moslem Empire in India. He said it was inconceivable that they could ever think of enslaving India. He alleged that the Government at present was provoking a fight with Afghanistan. If war was declared Mussulmans, who thought as the Afghans did, would start civil disobedience. The Ali brothers, instead of profiting by the present opportunity, had begged Hindus to do their utmost to prevent war. Shaukat Ali suggested that a deputation of Hindus, including Gandhi, with prominent Mussulmans, should visit the frontier to discus* matters with the Afghans.
