The Moscow correspondent of the New York Times says the State police depa-rtment has contributed to th® gaiety of the Christmas season, which, technically is not Christmas, by expelling from the city nearly a thousand persons who were undesirable urbanites, namely, bootleggers, card sharpers, confidence men, smugglers, usurers, drug users and drug pedlars, keepers of brothels, and persons with no regular occupation.
