In a Sheffield Shield match againsi New South Wales, Victoria have lo*t ( ight wickets for 268 (Mayne 106, Ponsford 45, Woodful 23. Ryder 42). The weather was dull, following rain overnight, but the wicket was covered, and it played sound and lively. A drizzle in the afternoon caused short interferences .in play and added to the deadness of ■the outside field, increasing the fieldcmen’s troubles. Mayne played another fine innings, marred by one or two cbancca, and with Ponsford he put on 99 for the first wicket. SOUTH AUSTRALIA v. QUEENSLAND Received Dec. 27, 1*2.50 a.m. Adelaide, Dec. 26. Against South Australia. Queensland has lost eight wickets for 357 (O’Connor not out 173, Thompson 54, Shepherd .37, Benatead 31). The weather was fine and tLe wicket good. O’Connor was safe, slow and punishing.
