FRENCH SCIENTISTS’ WARNING. AGAINST SECRET FORMULAE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Dec. 26, 9.30 p.m. New York, Dec. 25. The Paris -correspondent of the New lork Times says the National Committee of Defence against Tuberculosis and tho Society -Sseientific for the study of tuberculosis have issued a warning that there is no I’accine or serum that will etre tuberculous, and that the dirpencer of any secret formulae will only exploit victims. The warning states: We are alarmed at the unjustified credit too often given to these remedies by the public. We consider it our duty to recall that there exists, at the present time, no medicine, either chemical or biological, no serum an.l no vaccine whose efficacy against tuberculosis has been demonstrated. Consumptives are consequently warned against the. danger they run. Money and time are wasted in therapeutics, the effects of Which are often harmful and always useless, whereas their cure or durable amelioration depends upon attentive medical surveillance and rigorously observed measures of personal hygiene.
