Mr. H. Rothory, Mayor of Te Kuiti, is on a visit to New Plymouth. m J- Broadfoot, President of the lc. Kuiti Chamber of Commerce, is on a visit to New Plymouth. Mrs. T. O’Donnell, of Marton, and Mns. H. A. Prebble, of Glen Oroua, arc spending a fortnight at Ngamotu beach. Mr. W. A. S<vinbourn, late headmaster of the Waitara school, and now headmaster of the Lansdowne school (Masterton) is at present on a visit to Waitara. Sir Francis Boyes, general manager of the New Zealand Refrigerating Co., passed through Taranaki on Saturday on his way north. Mr. Arthur H. Hamerton, Christchurch district manager of the Government Life Insurance Department, has retired after forty-four yeans’ service. He is a son f the late Mr. R. C. Hamerton, formerly Public Trustee. Mr. A. Adam, accountant to Messrs. Webster Bros., has received advice that he was successful in passing the final stage, of the professional accountants’ examination conducted 'by the University of Now Zealand in November last. The retirement of Major-General Sir E. W. C. Chaytor from the position of General Officer Commanding the Now Zealand Forces and*the appointment of Colonel C. Melville, C. 8., C.M.G., D. 5.0., to succeed him, are announced. Mies Grace Mouat, of New Plymouth, has 'been appointed assistant teacher at Avarua school, Rarotonga. Mis’s Mouat, who has been teaching at Hillsborough for the past four years, will leave Auckland for the islands on January 29.
