CHRISTMAS IN HOSPITAL.

CONCERT BY VICTORIA LEAGUE. SANTA CLAUS VISITS CHILDREN. Christmas in the New Plymouth hospital was very bright this year. Following the outing and concert on Saturday arranged by the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce, a visit was paid on Monday by a number of members of the New Plymouth branch of the Victoria League headed by Mrs. C. .H Burgess (president). After giving a musical programme, sweet® flowers and gifts were handed round in all the wards. The flowers were arranged by Miss Rauma List, sweets by Miss Audrey Eberlet, and the programme by Miss Avis Greig. The visitors were afterwards the guests of the matron at morning tea. At night the Christmas spirit was kept moving by a number of nurses, who visited the wards and sung songs to the patients, while, when the lights were turned low, Santa Claus, commissioned by the Chamber of Commerce, visited the bedsides of the children patients and left behind toys and sweets.

On Christmas morning, the Rev. F. G. Harvie (vicar of St. Mary’s) celebrated the Holy Communion service at 6 o’clock a large number of nurses and patients approaching the holy table.
