At Pinehurst, North Carolina, Arthur Hovers, British open golf champion, and James Ockenden, French open champion, defeated Ross and Capello, American professionals, one up over thirty-five holes. The Americans led until the fifteenth hola in the afternoon, when the foreigners took the lead, which they retained firmly thereafter. This is the first of a series of .matches composing the American tour.
