ACCIDENT TO AUCKLAND EXPRESS SMASH IN PALMERSTON SQUARE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, Dec. 22. The Auckland to Palmerston North train crashed into a motor lorry at a crossing in the Square. The lorry was conveying cream. The engine struck the cab of the lorry, throwing the driver on the road. He miraculously escaped death and received a large gash in his left arm. The motor was badly smashed.
