A very geneorus response has been so far received to the appeal for funds for the erection of the fallen soldiers’ memorial, the total subscribed to date being £lOl9 7s sr. The objective 4s at least £l5OO. KING’S THEATRE. “THE PRIDE OF PALOMAR.” Lovers of thrills, romance and high adventure will have their desires gratified in “The Pride of Palomar,” Peter B. Kyne’s great story of the boundless West, which will be screened at the King’s Theatre, Stratford, at matinee to-day and again to-night. It is a cosmopolitan production, ancT'the story, a powerful drama of a romantic fight against foreign encroachment in California, and need not be revealed, for it has been read by thousands in book form. The role/of Don Mike is taken by Forrest Stanley, and of Kay Parker by Marjorie Daw. Owing to the phenomenal success of this picture whereever it has been screened it has been necessary to extend the season. This happened. this week in Wanganui, where the season was extended for three days more. Although a special feature, usual prices will be charged. The box plan is now open at Humphrey’s.
