PLUNKET SOCIETY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The ordinary monthly meeting of the Eltham branch of the Plunket Society was held on Tuesday, Mr. G. W. Tayler (president) presiding over a good attendance of the committee. Several new subscribers Were added to the list. Nurse Ewart reported as follows: No. of babies on the books 145, new cases 3. Visits to homes 68, visits to rooms 71, visits to rooms by adults 88. A considerable amount of business of a general nature was gone through and accounts passed for payment. BOXING. The Eltham Association lias decided to stage an amateur tourney at the Town Hall on Saturday, May 23. A special feature will be a six round challenge featherweight bout between C. Coulter (winner of the Taranaki championships), and A. Humphreys (challenger). These two lads are wellknown throughout Taranaki for theii boxing capabilities and should prove 1 big draw. The winner of the bout wil' probably be sent to Hawke’s Bay to represent Taranaki at the North Island championships. Another bout of considerable interest has been arranged between the giants, Hooper and Pepperell. Roth these lads are showing considerable improvement and Pepperell’s stirring “mill’' with McGuire at the championships, when the decision was given against him on the narrowest of margins, will long be remembered. In addition, eight other bouts - between the best boys available in Taranaki will be staged. 'See advertisement for further particulars.
