Mr. Fred Barnett, formerly of Stratford, has joined the staff of Messrs. Newton King, Ltd. at New Plymouth.

The Rev. O. W. Williams, who for the past two years has been principal of the Hikurangi Maori College, has been appointed to a position on the staff of Christ’s College, Christchurch. At the meeting of householders of the West End school district last night, a vote of sympathy was passed with the widow and family of the late Mr. J. Brokonshire, who was a member of the committee, a position he had held practically since the school was established.

Mr. J. Thomas, at present headmaster of the Pukekohe school, and formerly headmaster at Inglewood, has been appointed headmaster ut the West End fcchool, Plymouth. Mr. G. F. Indor, managing clerk for Mr. C. R. Stead, of Waitara, has received advice that he has passed the final section of his professional examination entitling him to admission as a solicitor. An interesting family gathering too*: place recently at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ambury, Liverpool Street, Epsom, when five brothers and their wives met for the first time in 47 years. They were Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Ambury, of lEps’om, Mr. and Mrs Arthur Ambury, and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ambury, of New Plymouth, an J Mr. and Mrs. John Ambury, of Northern Wairoa. The last occasion on which the brothers had assembled was at the burial of Mrs. Ambury, sen., in England, in 1-876. Greetings by telegram were received from two absent sisters, the other surviving members of the family.
