SCHEME FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. COMPANY GOES TO ALLOTMENT. At a meeting of the provisional direc- A tors of the New Plymouth Opera House Company, Ltd., last evening, it was decided to proceed to allotment, the minimum number of shares having bec?i subscribed. Estimates of the proposed building were considered, and it was decided to prepare plans and go on tvith the building when the share subscription had reached £23,000. The shares subscribed for and in sight were reported as representing £21,250, so that £1750 remains still to be placed before a start is made. The estimated cost of land and buildings is between £33,000 and £.35,000, and it is expected to arrange mortgages to the ex-tent of £lO,OOO. The proposed building will occupy the site of the old Theatre Royal, destroyed by fire in 1916, and will have a frontage to Devon Street of 63ft. It ia proposed to utilise the basement as a meeting and dancing hall. The seating accommodation of the theatre will be between 1100 and 1200.
