A further extension of the Prohibition sentiment in Latin America is foreseen in tlie announcement of the agenda for the forthcoming fifth pari-American conference in March, which provides for the consideration of measures to secure a progressive diminution of the consumption of alcoholic beverages. The United States, at present, is the only country to participate, - having na-tion-wide Prohibition, but various other Central South American countries have partial Prohibition. Tn Chilo and Peru there is an extremely active campaign in favor of Prohibition being carried out. There is a law prohibiting the sale of liquor on Saturday and Sunday, and always in mining regions. Other LatinAmerican nations also have jaws for the restriction of the s’ale of intoxicating beverages.

It is expected the conference will re suit in a programme of further restrictions.
