WAITARA.

(From Our Own Correspondent). The local Salvation Army Hall was opened on Saturday last by Major Wallace. Saturday afternoon was taken up with the opening and dedication and in the evening the installation of Captains Lellingstone and Stevenson took place. 'Services were held all day on Sunday, the New Plymouth band again being in attendance. The cash takings at the Clifton Rowing Chib’s aquatic sports last Saturday were £l7 19s Sd. and for the dance at night £ll 15s. Included in the former was £5 5s 9d, collected by Mr. J. Johnston, who went round with the hat.

There lias been a revival of interest in rowing and the Clifton Club has materially added to its membership. There is talk of reviving the regatta, which was a popular Taranaki outing years ago. It is too late this season but it is the intention to put the move ment into shape for next year.
