BENEFIT CONCERT.

BATTALION BAND’S EFFORTS. The band of the 4th Battalion, Wellington Regiment, ever ready to assist in a de r serving cause, was indefatigable in its efforts over the week-end on behalf of their fellow-bandsman, Mr. A. Hoskin, who is at present a patient in the hospital owing to an accident he met with some time ago. On Saturday night, an open-air concert was given at Pukekura Park, the function drawing a large crowd. The programme was pleasingly varied and the performers were well received. Songs were contributed by Mesdames Belcher and D. H. Thompson, Miss Harper, and Messrs. Ray Cocker, Gordon Bellringer and C. Andrews, while instrumental items were given by the band and by Messrs. Feek (trombone solo), J. Lowe (euphonium solo), W. Kay (cornet solo), Dan. Owens (bass solo)), and C. N. Shepherd (banjo). Yesterday afternoon the band gave a recital in Pukekura Park, and last night a sacred concert was given in Everybody’s Theatre. Every seat was occupied, and another enjoyable programme was rendered. The proceedings opened and terminated with selections by the band, songs being contributed by Mesdames Belcher and Thomson, Misses A. White, Harper and Coleman, and Messrs. Trehey and Andrews. Instrumental items were rendered by Messrs. Handley, Kay and Feek (trombone trio), Kay (cornet solo), J. Lowe (euphonium) and H. Kay (trombone solo). The programmes were arranged by Mr. F. R. P. Fredric, the accompaniments being played by Mrs. Fredric.
