L Walter Francis Tatam was charged at Bow Street in connection with the recent attempt to poison Sir William Norwood, head of the Metropolitan Police, by means of poisoned chocolates. Giving evidence of the arrest the police stated that Tatam rushed downstairs, talking incoherently and brandishing a swordstick. He was overI powered. Chocolates, a chocolate box, Land cards identical with those sent to police headquarters were found in I Tatam’s possession.. Witness admitted She knew Tatam was once detained as a certified lunatic. Tatam was remanded for iqedieal examination.
