DEPRESSION BRINGS TRAGEDY.
, WOMAN’S LEAP TO DEATH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Feb. 2. A tragedy occurred at 38 MTarlane Street yesterday, when Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bellhouse, wife of the Rev. Harold Bellhouse, leaped from an upstairs window of her residence to the asphalt path below, a distance of about 25ft., and received such severe injuries that she died before medical aid could be summoned. Deceased was 56 years af age and resided with her husband and family. For four years past she had been mentally depressed and had been attended by Dr. Elliott for nervous troubles. At the inquest on Mrs. Bellhouse, the Coroner returned a verdict that the woman died as the result of jumping from a window while suffering from mental depression.
