RIFLE SHOOTING.

THE TRENTHAM MEETING. DETAILS OF THE ARRANGEMENTS. The National Riflle Association’s annual meeting is to commence at the Trentham ranges on March 1, and it is probable that a New Plymouth team will compete. Particulars of the meeting are contained in two circulars from the N.R.A., received by the secretary of the New Plymouth Defence Icifle Club. These stat e : Members of the permanent staff of the Defence Department or territorials are eligible to join rifle clubs as active members, and are entitled to compete in all imatches at the forthcoming N.R.A. meeting as members of the club in which they are sworn In. No member can represent two clubs or corps.

Any rules not appearing in the current programme of the N.R.A. are covered by the rules of the N.R.A., Great Britain.

Rifles.—Match rifles and barrels are allowed. Blade sights are also allowed, z but to a specified size as follows: Foresights must be of a military pattern, and comply with the following measurements—height from top to block, minimum l-81n., maximum 7-32 in.; the width of the foresight must not exceed 3-32 in. The Trentham ranges are now being renovated. and the camp commandant, Major P. Henderson, has intimated to the chairman of the N.R.A. Council that everything will be in first-class condition by March 1.

A first-class caterer has been engaged and guarantees good meals, the charge for which will be only 5s per day.

In response to a request by competitors, crockery has been secured in place of enamelware. and lunch will include green salad and tomatoes, etc. Three blankets, ground sheet, paliassc, straw and a bed will be provided at 5s lor the meeting. (The bed probably moans a stretcher). Huts will again be available.

In reply. to Inquiries, match rifles and barrels arc allowed. Please ask competitors to state on entry form if they are staying in camp.

The committee would much appreciate it if you would induce ns many members of your club as possible to enter, and especially a team from the club.
