SYDNEY WOOL SALES. Sydney, Jan. 16. At the wool sales competition for all good merinos and crossbreds was very keen, prices tending in sellers’ favour. WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. ANIMATED COMPETITION. Wellington, Jan. 17. At. the wool sales competition is highly animated from all buying quarters. All crossbreds show an eager demand. Grade advanced Id to 2d on December rates, equal to slightly better than Napier prices. Merino and halfbred were equally competed for by local mills. Crossbred bellies and pieces 8d to lOd. Halfbred pieces sold up to 17d. Merino from Marlborough made what is believed a record price for New Zealand of 29d. Lambs’ wool was very strong at a full 2d advance on December rates.
