Following upon the reading of a paper before the ethnographical section of the Science Congress, by Captain P\tt Rivers, on “The decline and extinction of certain races in the Pacific,” a series of resolutions were passed calling on the Governof Australia and New Zealand without delay to take steps to segregate and prevent the destruction of the primitive races within their dependencies, and that a committee be appointed to inquire into the factors contributing to the decline of certain native races in the Pacific.
